Frequently Asked Questions

What is the primary function of the Unity Tactical MODBUTTON Lite Single Lead Crane Laser?

The Unity Tactical MODBUTTON Lite Single Lead Crane Laser is designed for momentary-only activation in tactical applications. This compact switch is ideal for users who require a reliable, high-power cable and switch system without the bulk of an integrated mount. It is particularly useful in high-stress situations where quick, temporary activation of a laser or light is necessary, ensuring that the user can maintain a low profile while still having immediate access to their tactical equipment.

How does the MODBUTTON Lite improve upon the original ModButton design?

The MODBUTTON Lite is a more compact and lightweight version of the original ModButton. By retaining the high-power cable and switch of its predecessor, it offers the same level of performance in a smaller form factor. This makes it easier to integrate into various tactical setups, especially where space and weight are critical considerations. The reduction in size does not compromise its durability or functionality, making it a versatile choice for modern tactical needs.

What materials are used in the construction of the MODBUTTON Lite, and why are they important?

The MODBUTTON Lite is constructed from injection molded high-impact polymer. This material is chosen for its enhanced durability and ability to withstand harsh environmental conditions. The high-impact polymer ensures that the switch can endure rough handling and extreme conditions without compromising its performance. This is crucial for tactical operations where reliability and resilience are non-negotiable.

Which devices are compatible with the SureFire-compatible cable lead of the MODBUTTON Lite?

The SureFire-compatible cable lead of the MODBUTTON Lite is backwardly compatible with several devices. It works seamlessly with SureFire, Arisaka, and Modlite Scout-style bodies, as well as SureFire UE and DS00 tail caps. This broad compatibility ensures that users can integrate the MODBUTTON Lite into existing setups without needing additional adapters, making it a flexible option for various tactical configurations.

What mounting options are available for the MODBUTTON Lite?

The MODBUTTON Lite offers versatile mounting options to suit different tactical needs. It is compatible with MIL-STD M1913 and M-LOK rail systems, providing flexibility in how it can be attached to various firearms. An optional M-LOK Mounting Kit is also available for purchase separately, allowing for more customized mounting solutions. This adaptability ensures that users can securely attach the switch in the most convenient and effective position for their specific setup.

How does the MODBUTTON Lite ensure compatibility with different laser systems?

The MODBUTTON Lite is designed to fit all standard laser ports using the MIL-STD Crane Laser Plug. This includes compatibility with laser systems from L-3, Steiner, B.E. Meyers, and others. By adhering to NATO Crane-spec port standards, the MODBUTTON Lite ensures that it can be integrated with a wide range of laser devices used in tactical operations, providing users with a reliable and versatile activation solution.

What are the dimensions and weight of the MODBUTTON Lite, and how do they affect its use?

The MODBUTTON Lite is compact, measuring less than 1.3 x 1.3 x 0.4 inches and weighing less than 1.3 oz. Its small size and lightweight nature make it ideal for tactical applications where minimizing bulk is crucial. This allows users to attach the switch to their gear without adding significant weight or taking up excessive space, maintaining the agility and efficiency needed in dynamic operational environments.

Why is momentary-only activation beneficial in tactical scenarios?

Momentary-only activation is beneficial in tactical scenarios because it allows for quick, controlled bursts of light or laser without leaving the device on continuously. This feature helps maintain stealth by minimizing the risk of accidentally revealing the user's position. It also conserves battery life, ensuring that the device is ready for use when needed. In high-stakes situations, the ability to activate a light or laser only when necessary can be a critical advantage.

How does the MODBUTTON Lite's design contribute to its durability in harsh environments?

The design of the MODBUTTON Lite contributes to its durability through the use of high-impact polymer and a robust construction. This ensures that the switch can withstand the rigors of harsh environments, including extreme temperatures, moisture, and physical impact. The compact and sealed design also helps protect the internal components from dust and debris, maintaining functionality even in challenging conditions.

What are the tradeoffs of using a smaller, lightweight switch like the MODBUTTON Lite?

Using a smaller, lightweight switch like the MODBUTTON Lite offers several advantages, but there are tradeoffs to consider. While the compact size reduces bulk and weight, it may also limit the ease of access to the switch in some configurations, particularly if wearing gloves or in low-visibility conditions. Additionally, the momentary-only activation may not be suitable for all users or situations where sustained activation is required. Users must weigh these factors against the benefits of reduced size and weight to determine if the MODBUTTON Lite meets their specific needs.
