Description

The RMR Type 2 is designed with a patented housing shape that absorbs impacts and diverts stresses away from the lens to increase durability. It also offers redesigned and upgraded electronics that have been proven to perform when mounted on slide ride pistols and other small arms. It’s suitable for military, law enforcement, concealed carry self-defense, target shooting, and hunting applications. The battery powered LED RMR Type 2 features a sensor, which automatically adjusts the brightness of the illuminated red dot based on ambient lighting conditions. The 3.25 MOA dot in the RM01 is the most versatile and popular of all RMR dot sizes. The dot is small enough to allow accurate shooting at range while also being big enough locate quickly.

NOTE: The RMR® Type 2 has identical physical dimensions and mounting footprint to that of the original RMR Type 1. If selecting an RMR for mounting on the Glock® MOS, Springfield® OSP, Walther® PDP, or H&K® VP9 Optics Ready, a Trijicon RMR® mounting kit (AC32064) is required.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the Trijicon RMR Type 2 3.25 MOA Red Dot suitable for harsh environments?

The Trijicon RMR Type 2 is designed with a patented housing shape that absorbs impacts and diverts stresses away from the lens, greatly increasing its durability. This makes it particularly suitable for harsh environments where equipment is likely to be subjected to rough handling or extreme conditions. The ruggedized battery contacts and electronics ensure reliable performance even in challenging settings, such as military and law enforcement operations. However, users should still consider regular maintenance and checks to ensure optimal performance over time.

How does the automatic brightness adjustment feature work on the RMR Type 2?

The RMR Type 2 features a sensor that automatically adjusts the brightness of the red dot based on ambient lighting conditions. This ensures that the dot is always visible without being too bright or too dim, which can be crucial in rapidly changing environments. The automatic adjustment helps conserve battery life by using only the necessary amount of power for the current lighting conditions. While this feature is convenient, users should be aware that manual adjustments may still be needed in certain tactical situations where specific brightness levels are preferred.

Is the Trijicon RMR Type 2 compatible with all firearms?

The Trijicon RMR Type 2 is compatible with a wide range of firearms, including pistols, rifles, shotguns, and carbines. It shares the same mounting footprint as the original RMR Type 1, making it easy to install on many optics-ready firearms. However, for specific models like the Glock® MOS, Springfield® OSP, Walther® PDP, or H&K® VP9 Optics Ready, a Trijicon RMR® mounting kit is required. It's important to verify compatibility with your specific firearm model and ensure that the mounting kit is properly installed to maintain zero.

What are the primary applications for the RMR Type 2?

The RMR Type 2 is versatile and can be used in various applications including military, law enforcement, concealed carry self-defense, target shooting, and hunting. Its durable design and automatic brightness adjustment make it suitable for both professional and recreational use. Whether you're in a tactical scenario or out in the field hunting, the RMR Type 2 provides a reliable aiming solution. However, users should consider the specific needs of their application, such as the size of the dot and the type of firearm, to ensure it meets their requirements.

How does the 3.25 MOA dot size benefit shooters?

The 3.25 MOA dot size of the RMR Type 2 is a balanced choice for shooters who need both precision and speed. The dot is small enough to allow accurate shooting at longer distances while being large enough to quickly acquire targets in close-quarters situations. This versatility makes it popular among various shooting disciplines. However, shooters who primarily engage in long-range precision shooting might prefer a smaller dot size, while those focused on rapid target acquisition might opt for a larger dot.

What are the battery life expectations for the RMR Type 2?

The RMR Type 2 is powered by a CR2032 battery, which can last up to four years of continuous use. This is largely due to the battery conservation mode, which adjusts the aiming dot to ambient lighting conditions after 16.5 hours. However, actual battery life will vary based on usage patterns, brightness settings, and environmental conditions. Regularly checking and replacing the battery is recommended to ensure the optic remains operational when needed.

How does the RMR Type 2 perform in low-light conditions?

In low-light conditions, the RMR Type 2 performs exceptionally well due to its dual-illuminated option. The tritium-phosphor lamp illuminates the reticle, while fiber optics automatically adjust the brightness and contrast to the available light. This ensures the reticle is visible without overwhelming the shooter's vision. However, users should be aware that extreme low-light conditions might still require additional lighting solutions, such as tactical flashlights, for optimal target identification.

What are the mounting requirements for the RMR Type 2 on pistols?

Mounting the RMR Type 2 on pistols typically requires a slide that is cut for red dots or the use of an adapter plate. Many modern pistols come optics-ready, but older models may need aftermarket modifications. It's crucial to ensure that the mounting solution is secure and capable of withstanding the recoil forces generated during firing. For more on selecting the right optic for your defensive setup, see our Optics, Sights & Lasers collection.

What is included with the purchase of the Trijicon RMR Type 2?

The purchase of the Trijicon RMR Type 2 includes a CR2032 battery, two Torx head screws, a hex wrench, an RMR manual, a Trijicon sticker, and a warranty card. These components ensure you have everything necessary for installation and maintenance. The inclusion of the manual is particularly useful for understanding the full capabilities and adjustments of the optic. It's important to keep the warranty card safe, as it provides coverage for the tritium lamp and electronics for specified periods.

How does the RMR Type 2 compare to other red dot sights?

The RMR Type 2 is often compared to other red dot sights due to its robust design and advanced features. Its patented housing shape and automatic brightness adjustment set it apart from many competitors. While it is more expensive than some entry-level models, its durability and reliability make it a preferred choice for serious users.
