Description

The RMR Type 2 is designed with a patented housing shape that absorbs impacts and diverts stresses away from the lens to increase durability. It also offers redesigned and upgraded electronics that have been proven to perform when mounted on slide ride pistols and other small arms. It’s suitable for military, law enforcement, concealed carry self-defense, target shooting, and hunting applications. The battery powered LED RMR Type 2 features a sensor, which automatically adjusts the brightness of the illuminated red dot based on ambient lighting conditions. The 3.25 MOA dot in the RM01 is the most versatile and popular of all RMR dot sizes. The dot is small enough to allow accurate shooting at range while also being big enough locate quickly.

NOTE: The RMR® Type 2 has identical physical dimensions and mounting footprint to that of the original RMR Type 1. If selecting an RMR for mounting on the Glock® MOS, Springfield® OSP, Walther® PDP, or H&K® VP9 Optics Ready, a Trijicon RMR® mounting kit (AC32064) is required.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the Trijicon RMR Type 2 suitable for harsh environments?

The Trijicon RMR Type 2 is designed with a patented housing shape that absorbs impacts and diverts stress away from the lens. This unique design significantly enhances its durability, making it ideal for use in harsh environments. Whether you're in a military operation or a rugged outdoor setting, the RMR Type 2 is built to withstand extreme conditions, including being waterproof up to 20 meters. Its ruggedized battery contacts and electronics ensure reliable performance even in the most challenging scenarios.

How does the automatic brightness adjustment feature work on the RMR Type 2?

The RMR Type 2 features an automatic brightness adjustment sensor that adapts the red dot brightness based on ambient lighting conditions. This ensures optimal visibility of the aiming point without manual intervention, which is particularly useful in dynamic lighting environments. Whether you're moving from bright sunlight to a shaded area or vice versa, the sensor adjusts the brightness to maintain target acquisition efficiency. This feature is crucial for tactical applications where lighting conditions can change rapidly.

Can the Trijicon RMR Type 2 be used on different types of firearms?

Yes, the Trijicon RMR Type 2 is multi-platform-friendly and can be mounted on a variety of firearms including rifles, pistols, shotguns, and carbines. This versatility makes it a popular choice for military, law enforcement, and civilian use. The RMR Type 2 uses the same mounting footprint as the original RMR Type 1, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of mounting solutions. For those using it on specific models like the Glock MOS, a Trijicon RMR mounting kit may be required.

What are the benefits of the 3.25 MOA dot size in the RMR Type 2?

The 3.25 MOA dot size in the RMR Type 2 strikes a balance between precision and speed. It is small enough to allow for accurate shooting at longer ranges while being large enough to quickly acquire in close-quarters scenarios. This versatility makes it a popular choice for both target shooting and self-defense applications, where rapid target acquisition is critical. The dot size is a key factor in determining the optic's suitability for various shooting distances and conditions.

How does the RMR Type 2 conserve battery life?

The RMR Type 2 conserves battery life through its automatic brightness adjustment and battery conservation mode. After 16.5 hours, the optic automatically adjusts the aiming dot to match ambient lighting conditions, reducing unnecessary battery drain. This feature, combined with the ruggedized battery contacts, ensures that the optic remains operational for extended periods, even in demanding environments. Users can expect reliable performance without frequent battery replacements, which is essential for long-term deployments.

What mounting kit is necessary for the Glock MOS with the RMR Type 2?

For mounting the RMR Type 2 on a Glock MOS, a Trijicon RMR mounting kit (AC32064) is required. This kit ensures a secure fit and proper alignment of the optic on the Glock platform. The mounting kit is designed to accommodate the specific dimensions and requirements of the Glock MOS, ensuring optimal performance and stability during use. It's important to use the correct mounting hardware to maintain the integrity and accuracy of the optic.

What are the advantages of the RMR Type 2's true-color, multi-coated lens?

The true-color, multi-coated lens of the RMR Type 2 provides a wide-band light transmission with minimal color distortion. This feature ensures that the target area appears natural and undistorted, which is crucial for accurate aiming and target identification. The multi-coating also helps reduce glare and reflections, enhancing visibility in various lighting conditions. This optical clarity is especially important in tactical and hunting scenarios where precise target acquisition is necessary.

How does the RMR Type 2 perform in low-light conditions?

In low-light conditions, the RMR Type 2's dual-illuminated option utilizes a tritium-phosphor lamp to illuminate the reticle. This feature ensures that the aiming point remains visible even in the absence of ambient light. Additionally, the fiber optics automatically adjust the brightness level to match the available light, providing optimal contrast and visibility. This capability is particularly beneficial for night-time operations or environments where lighting is unpredictable.

What are the key differences between the RMR Type 1 and Type 2?

The RMR Type 2 features upgraded electronics and ruggedized battery contacts compared to the Type 1. These enhancements improve the optic's performance and reliability, particularly when mounted on slide ride pistols and other small arms.
