Description

The Dual-Illuminated RMR uses fiber optics and tritium to illuminate the reticle. Fiber optics collect ambient light, automatically adjusting the reticle brightness. In situations with no (or low) light, the tritium illuminates the reticle. This version is popular with shooters who prefer a battery-free solution. The RM05 family has a green 9.0 MOA dot, which is simple to use and easy to find. The U.S. Marine Corps chose the 9.0 MOA dot for use in both the SDO and MDO optics programs.

NOTE: If selecting an RMR for mounting on the Glock® MOS, Springfield® OSP, Walther® PDP, or H&K® VP9 Optics Ready, a Trijicon RMR® mounting kit (AC32064) is required.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the dual illumination system in the Trijicon RMR work?

The dual illumination system in the Trijicon RMR uses both fiber optics and tritium to provide a reliable reticle visibility. Fiber optics collect ambient light to automatically adjust the reticle brightness during the day, while the tritium illuminates the reticle in low-light or no-light conditions. This design ensures that the sight remains functional without the need for batteries, making it an excellent choice for long-term reliability in various lighting environments.

What are the benefits of using a 9.0 MOA dot size in the Trijicon RMR?

The 9.0 MOA dot size in the Trijicon RMR is particularly beneficial for quick target acquisition. A larger dot is easier to see, especially in dynamic shooting scenarios where speed is crucial. This size is favored by the U.S. Marine Corps for its balance between precision and visibility, making it suitable for both close-quarters and mid-range engagements. However, it may cover more of the target at longer distances, which is a tradeoff to consider depending on your specific needs.

Is the Trijicon RMR suitable for use on multiple firearm platforms?

Yes, the Trijicon RMR is designed to be multi-platform-friendly, making it compatible with rifles, pistols, shotguns, and carbines. This versatility is due to its robust design and the availability of various mounting options. It can also serve as a secondary sight when paired with a magnified optic, providing flexibility in tactical and hunting applications. Ensure you have the appropriate mounting kit, such as the Trijicon RMR mounting kit (AC32064), for specific models like the Glock MOS or Springfield OSP.

How does the Trijicon RMR handle harsh environmental conditions?

The Trijicon RMR is built to withstand harsh environmental conditions, including being waterproof up to 20 meters. Its unique, patented housing shape diverts the force of impact away from the lens, significantly enhancing its durability. This makes the RMR an ideal choice for use in rugged environments where reliability is paramount. However, it is always advisable to regularly check and maintain your gear to ensure optimal performance.

What maintenance does the Trijicon RMR require?

The Trijicon RMR requires minimal maintenance due to its battery-free design. Regularly clean the lens with a soft cloth to ensure clear visibility and check the mounting screws for tightness to maintain zero. Since it uses tritium and fiber optics, there are no batteries to replace, but it's important to inspect the tritium's glow periodically, especially if the sight is older, as its brightness can diminish over time.

Can the Trijicon RMR be integrated into a bug out bag setup?

The Trijicon RMR can be a valuable addition to a bug out bag setup, especially for those prioritizing self-defense and tactical readiness. Its compact size and durability make it easy to pack, and its battery-free operation ensures reliability without the need for spare batteries. For more insights on building a comprehensive bug out bag, refer to our complete bug out bag guide.

What makes the Trijicon RMR a preferred choice for military use?

The Trijicon RMR is favored in military applications due to its exceptional durability and reliability. Its robust construction can withstand the rigors of combat environments, and the dual-illuminated reticle ensures visibility in a variety of lighting conditions without relying on batteries. This makes it a dependable choice for military personnel who require consistent performance in critical situations.

How does the Trijicon RMR perform in low-light conditions?

In low-light conditions, the Trijicon RMR leverages its tritium-phosphor lamp to illuminate the reticle. This ensures that the aiming point remains visible without the need for external light sources or batteries. The transition between light conditions is seamless, allowing for quick adjustments during dawn, dusk, or indoor environments where lighting can be unpredictable.

What mounting options are available for the Trijicon RMR?

The Trijicon RMR is compatible with a variety of mounting options, including direct mounts for pistols and adapter plates for rifles and shotguns. It can be mounted on popular models such as the Glock MOS, Springfield OSP, and others with the appropriate Trijicon RMR mounting kit. This flexibility allows users to customize their setups according to their specific firearm platforms and operational needs. For more information on optics mounting, explore our Optics, Sights & Lasers collection.

What are the limitations of the Trijicon RMR in extreme conditions?

While the Trijicon RMR is designed for durability, extreme conditions can still pose challenges. Prolonged exposure to severe weather, such as extreme cold or heat, may affect the materials over time. Additionally, while the RMR is waterproof, submerging it repeatedly or for extended periods may eventually compromise its seals. Regular inspections and maintenance are recommended to ensure continued performance in demanding environments.
