Description

The Safariland Incog X IWB Holster is a newly redesigned, RDS-compatible inside-the-waistband holster, created in collaboration with Haley Strategic Partners. This 10th-anniversary edition offers enhanced concealed carry features, combining premium style with rugged function. The Incog X is available in various Cordura pattern options, providing a distinctive look while maintaining durability.

Designed for comfort, the holster's body-facing side is lined with microsuede, ensuring a softer touch against the skin for extended wear. Its ergonomic, mission-adaptable design allows for deep concealment and a full firing grip prior to drawing. The Incog X supports a wide range of handgun fits and features passive retention with adjustable tension for a fine-tuned fit and draw feel.

The holster includes a series of clips for enhanced grip acquisition, concealment, and functionality. These clips open outward and slide down with the holster, naturally locking in place over the belt. The improved clip strut design allows for customized concealment with shims in three sizes: 1/8”, 1/4", and 3/8”.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the Safariland Incog X IWB Holster suitable for concealed carry?

The Safariland Incog X IWB Holster is designed for optimal concealed carry by offering deep concealment and a full firing grip prior to drawing. Its ergonomic design ensures that the holster remains comfortable against the body, even during extended wear. The microsuede lining on the body-facing side provides a softer touch, reducing skin irritation. Additionally, the holster's passive retention system with adjustable tension allows users to customize the fit and draw feel, enhancing both security and accessibility.

How does the Incog X IWB Holster accommodate different handgun models?

The Incog X IWB Holster supports a wide range of handgun fits, making it versatile for various firearm models. It is specifically compatible with Smith & Wesson M&P 2.0 models, both with and without thumb safety, and optic-ready versions. This adaptability is achieved through its adjustable tension system and the inclusion of multiple clip strut shims, which allow for a customized fit. This feature is particularly beneficial for users who own multiple firearms and wish to use a single holster across different models.

What optics and lights are compatible with the Incog X IWB Holster?

The Incog X IWB Holster is RDS-compatible and designed to accommodate a variety of optics and lights. It supports micro optics similar to the Sig ROMEOZero and standard optics akin to the Trijicon RMR and HOLOSUN 507/509T. For tactical lighting, it is compatible with models like the Surefire XC-1, Streamlight TLR-7, and Inforce APLc, among others. This compatibility ensures that users can maintain their preferred sight and illumination setups without compromising on concealment or functionality.

How does the clip strut design enhance the functionality of the Incog X IWB Holster?

The clip strut design of the Incog X IWB Holster significantly enhances its concealment and accessibility. The clips open outward and slide down with the holster, naturally locking in place over the belt. This design not only secures the holster firmly but also allows for quick adjustments. The inclusion of shims in three sizes (1/8”, 1/4", and 3/8") enables users to tailor the holster's position for optimal concealment and comfort, making it adaptable to different body types and clothing styles.

What are the benefits of the microsuede lining in the Incog X IWB Holster?

The microsuede lining on the Incog X IWB Holster provides several benefits for extended wear. This material offers a softer touch against the skin, which is particularly advantageous during prolonged use, reducing the risk of chafing or discomfort. The lining also helps to wick moisture away, maintaining a comfortable and dry environment between the holster and the body. This feature is particularly beneficial in hot or humid climates where perspiration can be an issue.

How does the Incog X IWB Holster support a full firing grip before drawing?

The design of the Incog X IWB Holster allows for a full firing grip before drawing, which is crucial for effective self-defense. This feature ensures that the user can securely and confidently grip the firearm as it is drawn from the holster, minimizing the time and effort needed to ready the weapon. This capability is especially important in high-stress situations where speed and reliability are paramount. The ergonomic design of the holster facilitates this by providing ample space and access to the firearm's grip.

What are the tradeoffs of using an IWB holster like the Incog X for concealed carry?

Using an inside-the-waistband (IWB) holster like the Incog X offers both benefits and tradeoffs for concealed carry. On the positive side, IWB holsters provide excellent concealment, making them ideal for discreet carry under various clothing types. However, they can be less comfortable than outside-the-waistband (OWB) holsters, especially when sitting for extended periods. Additionally, drawing from an IWB holster may require more practice to ensure smooth and quick access. Users must balance the need for concealment with the potential for reduced comfort and accessibility.

How does the Incog X IWB Holster's tension adjustment work?

The tension adjustment feature of the Incog X IWB Holster allows users to customize the retention level of their firearm. This is achieved by adjusting screws on the holster, which alter the pressure applied to the firearm, ensuring a secure fit. This customization is crucial for balancing retention with the ease of draw, allowing users to fine-tune the holster to their specific needs and preferences. Proper tension adjustment ensures that the firearm remains securely in place during movement while still allowing for a quick and smooth draw when needed.

What considerations should be made for clothing when using the Incog X IWB Holster?

When using the Incog X IWB Holster, clothing choice is an important consideration for effective concealment. Users should opt for slightly looser clothing to prevent printing, where the outline of the firearm is visible through the fabric. Shirts with patterns or darker colors can also help in disguising the presence of a holster. Additionally, the waistband of pants should be slightly larger to accommodate the added bulk of the holster and firearm, ensuring comfort and concealment without compromising on accessibility.

Can the Incog X IWB Holster be used for left-handed shooters?

The specific model of the Incog X IWB Holster in question is designed for right-handed use. This means that left-handed shooters would need to look for a left-hand-specific version or alternative models that accommodate left-handed draw. It is crucial for left-handed users to select a holster designed for their dominant hand to ensure proper grip, draw, and safety. Using a right-handed holster on the left side can lead to awkward drawing angles and increased risk of accidents.
