NBC-17 SOF GAS MASK FILTER APPLICATION:

The filter provides reliable protection against solid and liquid aerosols, smoke-producing substances, radioactive particles, bacteria, viruses, vapors of organic and inorganic acids, hydroxides, organic solvents with a boiling point above 65°C, ammonia, amines, acid gases, agricultural chemical combustion products, tear-producing agents, irritants, choking agents, blister and nerve agents, (e.g., bromoacetone, CS substance, organic compounds of arsenic, phosgene, hydrogen cyanide, cyanogen chloride, mustard gas, organophosphates) – sarin, IVA, VX and other toxic substances, (e.g., benzene, toluene, vinyl chloride, fluorine, hydrogen fluoride, sulphur oxides, phosgene, phosphoric acid and its organic derivatives, chloroacetic acid, nitric acid, aldehydes, mixtures of inorganic acids and organic substances).

Gas Mask Filter Lifetime:

Breakthrough time of a gas mask filter is tested according to EN 14387+A1 at humidity 70% and flow rate 30 l/min. The approximate lifetime (usage time) of a filter may be calculated by comparing the concentration at the workplace and the minimum Dynamic Adsorption Capacity (DAC) for the filter.

Gas Mask Filter Storage and Maintenance:

Each NBC-17 SOF gas mask filter is sealed in a plastic bag by the manufacturer. Store the filters unopened in a clean place at even temperature, most appropriate at -5 to +30°C and relative humidity below 80%. Sealed filters tolerate conditions of -30 to +50°C and RH below 95%. Do not try to regenerate the filters. Never clean the filters with compressed air or compressed water.

Gas Mask Filter Disposal:

After use, gas mask filters are considered special refuse. Dispose of them according to current waste treatment regulations. Dismantle from the respirator and dispose of as solid waste. Refer to local authority regulations for disposal advice and locations.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the NBC-17 SOF CBRN Gas Mask Filter suitable for military use?

The NBC-17 SOF CBRN Gas Mask Filter is designed with military-grade specifications to provide comprehensive protection against chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear threats. Its robust construction and compatibility with 40mm NATO threaded respirators make it a trusted choice for military personnel and CBRN specialists globally. The filter's durability against shock and impact damage ensures reliability in high-stress operational environments. For more insights on selecting the right filter for your needs, explore our guide on choosing the right gas mask filter.

How does the NBC-17 SOF filter protect against a wide range of threats?

The NBC-17 SOF filter is certified to protect against a variety of threats including organic and inorganic gases, acid gases, ammonia, and radioactive particles. It achieves this through its A2B1E1K1P3 D R rating, which ensures high efficiency in filtering harmful substances. This makes it suitable for scenarios involving industrial chemicals, warfare agents, and environmental hazards. However, users should be aware that the filter's effectiveness is dependent on proper mask fit and environmental conditions.

What are the storage recommendations for the NBC-17 SOF filter to ensure its longevity?

To maximize the 10-year shelf life of the NBC-17 SOF filter, it should be stored unopened in a clean, dry place with a stable temperature. The recommended storage conditions are between -5 to +30°C with relative humidity below 80%. Sealed filters can tolerate more extreme conditions of -30 to +50°C and RH below 95%. Proper storage is crucial to maintain the filter's integrity and effectiveness when needed.

Is the NBC-17 SOF filter compatible with all types of respirators?

The NBC-17 SOF filter is compatible with most standard 40mm NATO threaded respirators, which are widely available. However, it is not compatible with the MB-90 PAPR unit due to its shorter threads. Users should verify compatibility with their specific respirator model to ensure a proper fit and seal.

How does the NBC-17 SOF filter perform in high humidity environments?

The NBC-17 SOF filter is tested for performance under high humidity conditions, maintaining its protective capabilities. The filter's breakthrough time is evaluated at 70% humidity, ensuring it can handle moist environments without compromising safety. However, prolonged exposure to extreme humidity should be avoided to maintain optimal filter performance.

What is the significance of the filter's A2B1E1K1P3 D R rating?

The A2B1E1K1P3 D R rating indicates the NBC-17 SOF filter's capability to handle various hazardous substances. This rating covers protection against organic vapors, inorganic gases, acid gases, ammonia, and particulates, ensuring comprehensive defense against multiple threats. This makes the filter versatile for different emergency scenarios, from industrial accidents to chemical warfare.

How should the NBC-17 SOF filter be disposed of after use?

After use, the NBC-17 SOF filter should be treated as special refuse and disposed of according to local waste treatment regulations. It should be dismantled from the respirator and disposed of as solid waste. Users should consult local authorities for specific disposal guidelines to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.

What are the limitations of the NBC-17 SOF filter in terms of usage time?

The usage time of the NBC-17 SOF filter is contingent upon the concentration of contaminants in the environment and the filter's Dynamic Adsorption Capacity (DAC). Higher concentrations of hazardous substances will reduce the filter's effective lifespan. Users should monitor environmental conditions and replace the filter as necessary to ensure continued protection. For guidance on maximizing filter efficiency, refer to our best chemical filters guide.

Can the NBC-17 SOF filter be used in conjunction with a PAPR system?

The NBC-17 SOF filter is not compatible with the MB-90 PAPR unit due to its shorter threads. While it can be used with other full-face masks and mouthpiece assemblies, users should ensure compatibility with their specific PAPR system to avoid any operational issues.

What scenarios are best suited for using the NBC-17 SOF filter?

The NBC-17 SOF filter is ideal for scenarios involving exposure to chemical warfare agents, industrial accidents, and environments with hazardous airborne particles. It provides protection against a wide range of threats, making it suitable for military operations, emergency response, and disaster preparedness. However, users should always assess the specific threats present and ensure the filter's ratings match the required protection level.
