Description

The MBUS Pro (Magpul® Back-Up Sight) is a corrosion-resistant, all-steel back-up sighting solution that provides maximum functionality and strength while keeping a minimal profile. It is designed to offer a lightweight, yet robust, iron sight system at an extremely affordable price.

The MBUS Pro Rear Sight is windage adjustable and features dual apertures, making it highly effective across a variety of distances. It excels in all 1913 Picatinny rail applications, including those with rail-height gas blocks. When deployed, the MBUS Pro Rear and Front Sights lock into standard AR sight height, and when stowed, they remain so low-profile that you won’t even notice them until they’re needed. The narrow front sight profile also ensures compatibility with most IR aiming lasers and light systems, ideal for professional users.

Made in the USA, the MBUS Pro Rear Sight is a high-performing, durable, and compact backup sight system designed for the most demanding situations.

Frequently Asked Questions

What materials are used in the construction of the MBUS Pro Rear Sight?

The MBUS Pro Rear Sight is constructed entirely from steel, which is case-hardened and finished with a QPQ salt bath nitride process. This provides exceptional wear and corrosion resistance, ensuring the sight remains durable and reliable in harsh environments. The all-steel construction is a key feature for those who require robust performance in demanding tactical or survival situations. However, the steel construction does add some weight compared to polymer alternatives, which is a tradeoff for increased durability.

How does the MBUS Pro Rear Sight adjust for windage?

The MBUS Pro Rear Sight features a low-profile windage adjustment knob that does not require any tools for operation. This allows for quick and easy adjustments in the field, which is crucial during dynamic shooting scenarios or when environmental conditions change. The windage adjustment is approximately 0.5 MOA per click with a 14.5-inch sight radius and 0.4 MOA per click with a 20-inch sight radius, providing precise control over your shot placement.

What are the benefits of the dual apertures on the MBUS Pro Rear Sight?

The dual apertures on the MBUS Pro Rear Sight offer versatility for different shooting distances and conditions. The small aperture, with a diameter of 0.07 inches, is ideal for precision shooting at longer ranges, while the larger 0.19-inch aperture is suited for quick target acquisition at closer distances. This flexibility makes the MBUS Pro Rear Sight a valuable tool for both tactical applications and competitive shooting, where rapid transitions between targets are often required.

Can the MBUS Pro Rear Sight be used with night vision devices?

Yes, the MBUS Pro Rear Sight is compatible with most infrared aiming lasers and light systems. Its low-profile design ensures that it does not interfere with the operation of night vision devices, making it suitable for nighttime operations. This compatibility is particularly beneficial for professional users who require seamless integration of their sighting systems with other tactical gear.

How does the MBUS Pro Rear Sight maintain its position during use?

The MBUS Pro Rear Sight features positive detents that secure the sight in both the up and down positions. This design ensures that the sight remains firmly in place during use, preventing accidental deployment or stowage. The detents provide a tactile feedback, assuring the user of the sight's status, which is crucial in high-stress environments where visual confirmation may not be possible.

What rail systems are compatible with the MBUS Pro Rear Sight?

The MBUS Pro Rear Sight is compatible with any MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny or STANAG 4694 rail system. This standardization allows the sight to be mounted on a wide range of firearms, making it a versatile choice for shooters who use multiple platforms. The compatibility with these rail systems ensures that the sight can be easily integrated into existing setups without the need for additional modifications.

How does the MBUS Pro Rear Sight contribute to a bug out bag setup?

The MBUS Pro Rear Sight is an excellent addition to a bug out bag due to its durability and compact design. Its corrosion-resistant construction ensures longevity in various environments, while its low-profile design minimizes bulk. This makes it ideal for situations where space and weight are critical, such as during an evacuation. For more on what to include in your bug out bag, check out our essential items checklist.

What are the tradeoffs of using the MBUS Pro Rear Sight compared to electronic sights?

While the MBUS Pro Rear Sight offers robustness and reliability, it lacks the quick target acquisition and low-light capabilities of electronic sights. Electronic sights can provide faster target acquisition and are often equipped with illuminated reticles for use in low-light conditions. However, they require batteries and can be susceptible to electronic failure. The MBUS Pro Rear Sight, being mechanical, does not rely on power sources, making it a dependable backup option.

Is the MBUS Pro Rear Sight suitable for professional tactical use?

Yes, the MBUS Pro Rear Sight is designed for professional tactical use, offering features that cater to high-demand scenarios. Its all-steel construction and corrosion-resistant finish make it durable enough for rigorous use. The sight's compatibility with infrared aiming lasers and its ability to maintain zero under harsh conditions make it a reliable choice for military and law enforcement operations.

How does the MBUS Pro Rear Sight integrate with other tactical gear?

The MBUS Pro Rear Sight integrates seamlessly with other tactical gear due to its standard AR sight height and low-profile design. This allows it to be used alongside various optics and accessories without obstruction. Its compatibility with most IR aiming lasers ensures that it can be part of a comprehensive tactical setup.
