Description

ARMORED DUELING TREE

The MR TARGET Armored Dueling Tree is tons of fun to shoot AND easy to setup and transport – NO TOOLS REQUIRED!  Easily breaks down into 3 parts (H-base, center post, and paddles) and lays flat in your backseat.

This 6 paddle tree is available in both pistol and rifle rated versions.  Each paddle is made of high quality 3/8″ AR500 steel able to withstand thousands of rounds.  Our rifle-rated* tree is constructed with a 3/8″ AR500 armored center post in addition to the armored paddles.  The pistol-rated tree has a standard non-armored center post, with 3/8″ AR500 paddles.

As with all of our steel targets, our dueling trees are angled slightly toward the shooter for safety which allows the projectiles to be deflected toward the ground… not back at the shooter.

Be sure to pick up a set of 22/rimfire paddles to go along with this tree HERE.

*For rifle calibers 5.56 and up, MR TARGET recommends a minimum 100y distance for safety and longevity of your target.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the MR TARGET Armored Dueling Tree suitable for both pistols and rifles?

The MR TARGET Armored Dueling Tree is designed to accommodate both pistol and rifle shooting by offering two versions. The pistol-rated version features a standard non-armored center post with 3/8″ AR500 paddles, while the rifle-rated version includes a 3/8″ AR500 armored center post for enhanced durability. This dual capability allows shooters to practice with a variety of firearms, making it a versatile training tool for different scenarios.

How does the angled design of the dueling tree enhance safety?

The angled design of the MR TARGET Armored Dueling Tree is a critical safety feature. By tilting the paddles slightly towards the shooter, the design ensures that projectiles are deflected downward into the ground rather than back towards the shooter. This reduces the risk of ricochets and enhances the safety of the shooting environment, especially important in both training and recreational settings.

What are the setup and transport features of the MR TARGET Armored Dueling Tree?

The MR TARGET Armored Dueling Tree is designed for easy setup and transport, requiring no tools. It breaks down into three parts: the H-base, center post, and paddles. This modular design allows it to lay flat in a vehicle's backseat, making it convenient for transport to various shooting locations. This portability is ideal for shooters who frequent different ranges or outdoor areas.

Why is AR500 steel used for the paddles and center post?

AR500 steel is chosen for the paddles and center post due to its exceptional hardness and durability. This material can withstand thousands of rounds, making it ideal for repeated use in shooting practice. The rifle-rated version uses AR500 for both the paddles and the center post, ensuring longevity even with high-caliber firearms. This durability makes it a cost-effective choice for serious shooters.

What are the recommended shooting distances for rifle calibers?

For rifle calibers, especially 5.56 and above, MR TARGET recommends a minimum shooting distance of 100 yards. This recommendation is made to ensure both safety and the longevity of the target. Shooting from this distance helps prevent excessive wear on the steel and reduces the risk of ricochets, providing a safer shooting experience.

How does the dueling tree contribute to shooting skill development?

The MR TARGET Armored Dueling Tree is an excellent tool for developing shooting skills such as accuracy and speed. The reactive nature of the paddles provides immediate feedback, allowing shooters to adjust their aim and timing. This dynamic interaction is beneficial for competitive shooters and those looking to improve their reflexes and precision under pressure.

Can the dueling tree be used for competitive shooting events?

Yes, the MR TARGET Armored Dueling Tree is well-suited for competitive shooting events. Its robust construction and reactive design make it ideal for dueling competitions, where shooters face off to hit targets faster than their opponents. The tree's durability and ease of setup ensure it can handle the demands of competitive use.

What additional accessories are recommended for use with the dueling tree?

To enhance the shooting experience with the MR TARGET Armored Dueling Tree, consider adding 22/rimfire paddles. These are specifically designed for lower caliber rounds, allowing for a broader range of practice scenarios. Additionally, investing in proper eye and ear protection is crucial for safety during shooting sessions.
