Description

The Dual-Illuminated RMR uses fiber optics and tritium to illuminate the reticle. Fiber optics collect ambient light, automatically adjusting the reticle brightness. In situations with no (or low) light, the tritium illuminates the reticle. This version is popular with shooters who prefer a battery-free solution. The RM05 family has a green 9.0 MOA dot, which is simple to use and easy to find. The U.S. Marine Corps chose the 9.0 MOA dot for use in both the SDO and MDO optics programs.

NOTE: If selecting an RMR for mounting on the Glock® MOS, Springfield® OSP, Walther® PDP, or H&K® VP9 Optics Ready, a Trijicon RMR® mounting kit (AC32064) is required.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the Trijicon RMR Dual Illuminated 9.0 MOA Green Dot Sight unique?

The Trijicon RMR Dual Illuminated 9.0 MOA Green Dot Sight is unique due to its dual-illumination system using fiber optics and tritium. This system allows the sight to automatically adjust reticle brightness based on ambient light conditions, providing clear visibility without the need for batteries. The 9.0 MOA green dot is specifically chosen for its visibility and ease of use, making it ideal for both tactical operations and competitive shooting. Its rugged design ensures durability in harsh conditions, making it a reliable choice for various applications.

How does the Trijicon RMR handle low-light conditions?

In low-light conditions, the Trijicon RMR utilizes a tritium-phosphor lamp to illuminate the reticle. This ensures that the reticle remains visible even when ambient light is insufficient. The tritium source provides a reliable glow, making it suitable for night-time operations or environments where artificial lighting is limited. This feature is particularly beneficial for law enforcement and military personnel who may operate in various lighting conditions.

What mounting options are available for the Trijicon RMR on different firearms?

The Trijicon RMR can be mounted on a variety of firearms, including rifles, pistols, shotguns, and carbines. For specific models like the Glock® MOS, Springfield® OSP, Walther® PDP, or H&K® VP9 Optics Ready, a Trijicon RMR mounting kit is required. This flexibility allows users to integrate the sight into their existing setups, whether for primary use or as a secondary sight in conjunction with a magnified optic. For more on selecting the right optic for your firearm, explore our Optics, Sights & Lasers collection.

What are the durability features of the Trijicon RMR?

The Trijicon RMR is designed with a unique, patented housing shape that diverts impact forces away from the lens. This significantly enhances its durability, making it capable of withstanding harsh conditions and heavy use. Additionally, the sight is waterproof up to 20 meters, ensuring reliable performance in wet environments. These features make it a trusted choice for military and law enforcement applications where equipment failure is not an option.

How does the Trijicon RMR's dual-illumination system work?

The dual-illumination system in the Trijicon RMR combines fiber optics and tritium to provide a consistent reticle illumination. Fiber optics capture ambient light to adjust the reticle's brightness automatically, while tritium provides illumination in low-light scenarios. This system ensures that the sight remains operational without the need for batteries, offering a maintenance-free solution ideal for long-term use in the field. What are the trade-offs of using a non-battery-powered optic like the Trijicon RMR?

Using a non-battery-powered optic like the Trijicon RMR offers the advantage of maintenance-free operation without the need to replace batteries. However, the trade-off is that the reticle brightness is dependent on ambient light conditions. In very low-light environments, the tritium illumination may not be as bright as LED-powered optics. Users must consider their typical operating environments to determine if this trade-off is acceptable for their needs.

How does the Trijicon RMR perform in extreme weather conditions?

The Trijicon RMR is built to withstand extreme weather conditions, including rain, snow, and high humidity. Its waterproof design ensures functionality even when submerged up to 20 meters. The robust construction and materials used in the RMR make it resistant to temperature fluctuations and physical impacts, providing reliable performance in diverse environments.

What is the warranty coverage for the Trijicon RMR Dual Illuminated model?

The Trijicon RMR Dual Illuminated model comes with a limited lifetime warranty. The tritium lamp is warrantied to illuminate for 15 years from the date of original manufacture. This warranty underscores Trijicon's commitment to quality and durability, ensuring that users have a reliable optic for many years. It's important for users to register their product and keep proof of purchase to facilitate any warranty claims.

Can the Trijicon RMR be used as a secondary sight with a magnified optic?

Yes, the Trijicon RMR can be effectively used as a secondary sight alongside a magnified optic. This setup allows for quick transition between long-range and close-quarters engagements. The RMR's compact size and lightweight design make it an excellent choice for mounting on offset positions or piggyback setups on rifles. This versatility is particularly beneficial in tactical scenarios where rapid target acquisition is critical.

Why did the U.S. Marine Corps choose the 9.0 MOA dot for their optics programs?

The U.S. Marine Corps selected the 9.0 MOA dot for their optics programs due to its balance between visibility and precision. A larger dot like the 9.0 MOA provides faster target acquisition, which is crucial in dynamic combat situations. It offers a clear and easy-to-find aiming point, reducing the time needed to align the sight with the target. This choice reflects the need for speed and accuracy in military operations, where every second counts.
