Guzzle H2O Stream vs Eddy vs Stealth: Which Water System Fits Your Van, RV, Boat or Home?

Guzzle H2O makes three families of drinking-water systems, and the right one depends on where your water comes from. The Stream is portable and pumps, filters and purifies water from a creek, lake or faucet. The Eddy is an inline carbon filter for filling an RV or van tank. The Stealth series is built into a van, boat, RV or kitchen to treat water from your onboard tank or tap. Mountain Ready carries the full line direct from Guzzle H2O. You can browse all of it on our Guzzle H2O page, and this guide helps you choose.

What Is the Guzzle H2O Stream?

The Stream is Guzzle's patented, battery-powered portable system. Drop the intake into a creek or lake, or connect it to a campground faucet, and it pumps, filters and purifies in one pass.

According to Guzzle H2O:

  • its LED UV-C purification is third-party tested to inactivate 99.99% of bacteria, protozoa and viruses, and is NSF 55 listed;
  • its 0.5-micron activated carbon block reduces sediment, chlorine taste and odor, VOCs, lead and mercury;
  • its rechargeable LiFePO4 battery delivers about 32 gallons per charge when pumping, or about 90 gallons in pressurized mode;
  • its case is rated IP67.

Choose the Stream if you camp, overland or keep an emergency kit and need to make water from whatever source you find.

What Is the Guzzle H2O Eddy?

The Eddy is carbon block filtration only, with no UV purification. It sits inline on your hose when you fill an RV or van tank from a campground spigot, improving taste and reducing sediment and chlorine in water that is already potable.

Choose the Eddy if you fill up from treated municipal or campground water and mainly want it to taste better and keep your tank cleaner.

Which Stealth Model Fits Your Van, RV, Boat or Home?

The Stealth series is built in and treats the water already in your onboard tank. Guzzle's own guidance on choosing a model:

Model Best fit
Stealth An easy, one-piece installation
Stealth Flex / Flex Twist Tight galley or cabinet space
Stealth 2x10 Expedition-size vehicles with 50 gallons or more of water
Stealth Carbon Tanks you always fill with reliable water and treat regularly. It improves taste.
Stealth Home Homes and offices. It runs on 110–240V AC and fits out of sight in a kitchen cabinet.

5-inch or 10-inch? Guzzle notes that most vans and truck campers only have room for a 5-inch model. If you have space or a larger tank, a 10-inch model offers more filtration surface area and slightly more flow.

What Do the Overland, Backcountry and Expedition Bundles Include?

All three bundles pair the Stream with Guzzle accessories so the system is ready to go out of the box:

Check each product page for exactly what's in the box. The Scout and Guide prefilters, hoses and the Klickitat bag are also sold separately.

What Parts Do You Need to Install a Stealth?

Every rig is plumbed differently, and Guzzle makes fittings for the common setups. Our Guzzle H2O page carries:

If you're not sure which fittings your vehicle needs, check your plumbing type (PEX or other) and the space available before you order, or contact us with your build details.

How Do You Maintain a Guzzle System?

Like any filter, Guzzle's carbon blocks are consumables, and the UV chambers and seals are replaceable. We stock the matching parts:

Follow Guzzle's instructions for cartridge replacement intervals, which depend on how much water you treat and how dirty it is. A slowing flow rate is the usual sign a cartridge or prefilter needs attention.

Is a Guzzle System Good for Emergency Preparedness?

For a household or vehicle, yes, especially the Stream. It can make drinking water from a creek, a pond, a rain barrel or a questionable tap during an outage or boil-water notice. For a home, the Stealth Home treats tap water under the sink every day. Pair either with stored water and a lightweight backup filter for a layered plan. See LifeStraw vs Sawyer Mini for lightweight options.

Common Questions

Does the Guzzle Stream need power?

Yes. It's battery powered, with a rechargeable LiFePO4 battery, and Guzzle sells a replacement charger. Keep it charged in your kit, and consider how you'll recharge it in an outage.

Which Guzzle is best for a camper van?

Guzzle points most vans and truck campers to a 5-inch Stealth model because of space. Choose the Flex or Flex Twist for tight cabinets, or the 2x10 for tanks of 50 gallons or more.

Can the Stream treat water from a creek or lake?

Yes. That's what it's designed for. Guzzle states it pumps, filters and purifies from natural or pressurized sources. For silty water, use one of Guzzle's prefilters to protect the cartridge.

Do I need the Eddy if I have a Stealth?

Not necessarily. Many owners use an Eddy on the fill hose to keep sediment out of the tank and a Stealth on the outlet to treat what they drink. It depends on how reliable your fill water is.

Where do I get replacement cartridges?

Replacement carbon blocks, UV chambers, O-rings and install kits are on our Guzzle H2O page. Because we work directly with Guzzle, we stock the matching parts for each system.
