Description

The Puribag is a flat-pack, 10L capacity water bag that can be stockpiled for up to 3 years and rapidly deployed when needed. Weighing less than 200 grams and fitting in the palm of your hand, the Puribag is mobile and can provide a family of four with their drinking water needs for 2 weeks, or an individual for 1 month.

It's the perfect water treatment system for camping, outdoor activities, or emergency and disaster response applications.

The Puribag ‘in-bag’ 30-minute water treatment process incorporates filter technologies, flocculation, sorption, and chemical disinfection to meet World Health Organization (WHO) requirements for safe drinking water.

Puribag can handle both high and low turbidity source waters, with varying contaminant levels, offering a fully integrated approach capable of treating a broader range of source waters.

The Puribag allows you to evacuate waste from the bag post-treatment and serves as a portable water storage vessel, limiting the risk of recontamination.

Each complete Puribag contains:

  • 12x P&G Purifier of Water Sachets, each capable of treating 10L of water.

The P&G water purification technology is an amazing innovation that quickly turns 10 liters of dirty, potentially deadly water into clean and drinkable water. The packet was invented by P&G laundry scientists who were originally trying to separate dirt from used laundry water. They invented a breakthrough technology that can enable people anywhere in the world to purify dirty water in a simple, affordable and convenient way.

The water purification technology was developed in collaboration with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and works in three ways: coagulation, flocculation, and disinfection.

The water purification packet contains a powdered mixture that has been proven to:

  • Eliminate disease causing microorganisms
  • Remove more than 99.99999% of common waterborne bacteria (including those that cause cholera), 99.99% of common waterborne viruses (including those that cause hepatitis A) and 99.9% of protozoa
  • Reduce diarrheal disease incidence in the developing world by up to 90%
  • Remove dirt and other pollutants
  • Make clean drinking water for the entire family, including infants

The World Health Organization classifies the technology as providing comprehensive protection.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the Puribag Water System purify water?

The Puribag Water System uses a multi-step purification process that includes coagulation, flocculation, and disinfection. This process is designed to meet World Health Organization (WHO) standards for safe drinking water. Each Puribag comes with P&G Purifier of Water Sachets, which are capable of treating 10 liters of water per sachet. The system effectively removes over 99.99999% of common waterborne bacteria, 99.99% of viruses, and 99.9% of protozoa, making it a reliable choice for emergency preparedness. For more detailed information on water purification, you can explore our guide on how the Puribag works.

What are the storage requirements for the Puribag Water System?

The Puribag Water System can be stored for up to 3 years in a cool, dry place. It is important to keep the Puribag away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures to maintain its integrity and effectiveness. The compact design allows it to be easily stored in emergency kits or bug out bags. If you're looking to integrate the Puribag into your emergency preparedness plans, consider checking out our bug out bag essentials checklist.

Can the Puribag Water System be used for high turbidity water?

Yes, the Puribag Water System is designed to handle both high and low turbidity water sources. The integrated filter technologies and chemical treatments are capable of treating water with varying levels of contaminants. This makes it suitable for use in diverse environments, from urban disaster zones to remote wilderness areas. For more information on emergency water solutions, visit our complete emergency water system guide.

How long does it take to purify water using the Puribag?

The Puribag Water System can purify water in approximately 30 minutes. This rapid purification process is achieved through the use of P&G Purifier of Water Sachets, which work efficiently to remove contaminants and disinfect the water. This quick turnaround makes the Puribag ideal for emergency situations where time is of the essence. For additional insights into water purification methods, explore our survival water solutions guide.

Is the Puribag Water System suitable for long-term water storage?

While the Puribag is excellent for short-term water purification and storage, it is not designed for long-term water storage. The bag itself is durable and can be reused, but for long-term storage solutions, larger and more robust containers are recommended. The Puribag is best used as a portable, emergency solution. For more on water storage options, you can check our water storage container guide.

How does the Puribag prevent recontamination of purified water?

The Puribag is designed to minimize the risk of recontamination by allowing waste evacuation post-treatment. Once the water is purified, the bag can be sealed to prevent exposure to contaminants. This feature is particularly useful in environments where clean water is scarce and hygiene conditions are challenging. For further reading on maintaining water safety, you might find our water safety guide helpful.

What makes the Puribag Water System portable?

The Puribag Water System is extremely portable due to its lightweight and compact design. Weighing under 200 grams and able to fit in the palm of your hand, it is easy to carry and store. This makes it an ideal choice for camping, hiking, and emergency situations where mobility is crucial. For more on portable hydration solutions, visit our EDC essentials guide.

How many people can the Puribag Water System support during an emergency?

The Puribag Water System can support a family of four with their drinking water needs for up to two weeks. For an individual, it can provide clean water for up to one month. This makes it a practical solution for short-term emergencies and disaster response scenarios. For comprehensive family preparedness strategies, consider our family preparedness guide.

What are the limitations of the Puribag Water System?

While the Puribag Water System is effective for short-term water purification, it is not suitable for desalination or treating chemically contaminated water. It is designed for freshwater sources and may not be effective against industrial pollutants or saltwater. Users should ensure they are sourcing water from a location that aligns with these limitations. For more on water treatment options, explore our desalination methods guide.

How does the Puribag Water System fit into a bug out bag?

The Puribag Water System is an ideal addition to a bug out bag due to its compact size and lightweight nature. It provides a reliable source of clean water without taking up significant space or adding much weight. This makes it perfect for emergency evacuation scenarios where every ounce counts.
