Inspired by a real life emergency

The Wolf Pack was inspired by our mascot, Barron - a 115 pound Swiss Mountain dog who lives for the trails. A few winters ago, Barron was hit by a ski while touring, where his dad (aka Uncharted Founder Christian Schauf), used an Uncharted Triage Kit to apply a makeshift tourniquet to Barron's leg. At the vet an hour later, Christian's duct tape, zip tie, blood-stopping contraption was credited for saving Barron's life, and the idea for a dog-specific first aid kit emerged.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes The Wolf Pack dog collar suitable for outdoor adventures?

The Wolf Pack dog collar is specifically designed for durability and comfort during outdoor adventures. Made from military-grade nylon, it withstands the rigors of active environments. The 1.5-inch width ensures even weight distribution, reducing strain on your dog’s neck. Additionally, the collar includes a stainless steel V-ring for secure leash attachment, making it ideal for hiking or other outdoor activities where control and safety are paramount.

How does the Fidlock technology enhance the functionality of The Wolf Pack collar?

Fidlock technology in The Wolf Pack collar offers a secure, self-securing magnetic attachment. This innovative feature allows for quick and easy fastening and removal, which is particularly useful in emergency situations or when dealing with an anxious pet. The magnetic mechanism doubles the strength of conventional buckles, providing peace of mind that the collar will remain securely fastened even during vigorous activity.

What first aid supplies are included in The Wolf Pack collar?

The Wolf Pack collar includes a compact medical kit with essential first aid supplies. The kit contains gauze, alcohol wipes, releasable zip ties, nitrile gloves, precision forceps, degradable dog poop bags, cohesive wrap, triple antibiotic cream, and blood clotting gauze. These items are tailored to address common injuries such as cuts, bites, and stings, ensuring your dog is prepared for minor medical emergencies while on the go.

How should I choose the correct size for The Wolf Pack collar?

Choosing the correct size for The Wolf Pack collar involves measuring your dog's neck circumference. The M/L size fits necks 16.5" to 20.5", suitable for medium breeds like Border Collies. The L/XL size fits 20.5" to 23.5", ideal for larger breeds such as German Shepherds. If your dog is between sizes, it is recommended to size up for comfort and adjustability. Proper sizing ensures the collar is comfortable and effective in distributing weight evenly.

Why is the grab handle only included on the L/XL Wolf Pack collar?

The grab handle is included on the L/XL Wolf Pack collar to provide better control over larger, stronger dogs. Larger dogs often require more control, especially in dynamic environments or emergency situations. The handle allows for quick and firm control, which can be crucial during unexpected encounters or when navigating challenging terrain. This feature enhances safety for both the dog and owner during outdoor activities.

How does The Wolf Pack collar contribute to overall pet emergency preparedness?

The Wolf Pack collar is a crucial component of pet emergency preparedness by integrating a first aid kit directly into the collar. This design ensures that essential medical supplies are always within reach, reducing the time needed to respond to injuries. In scenarios where quick action is necessary, such as during hikes or camping trips, having these supplies readily available can make a significant difference in outcomes. For more comprehensive pet emergency planning, consider our Pet Emergency Kit guide.

Can The Wolf Pack collar be used as part of a larger emergency preparedness strategy?

Yes, The Wolf Pack collar can be integrated into a larger emergency preparedness strategy for pet owners. It complements other emergency gear by ensuring your pet is also equipped for unexpected situations. Including the collar in your pet’s go-bag or emergency kit ensures that first aid supplies are always on hand. For a comprehensive approach, explore our First Aid Kits collection to cover human needs as well.

What are the limitations of The Wolf Pack collar in emergency scenarios?

While The Wolf Pack collar provides essential first aid supplies, it is limited to minor injuries and immediate care. It is not a substitute for professional veterinary care, especially for severe injuries or conditions. The supplies are designed to stabilize and manage minor incidents until professional help can be obtained. Pet owners should still be prepared to seek veterinary attention when necessary and consider additional training in pet first aid for more serious situations.

How does the design of The Wolf Pack collar ensure comfort for dogs during extended wear?

The design of The Wolf Pack collar prioritizes comfort through its 1.5-inch wide construction and military-grade nylon material. This width helps distribute weight evenly, minimizing pressure points on the dog’s neck. The durable yet flexible material allows for natural movement, ensuring that the collar remains comfortable even during long periods of wear. This design is particularly beneficial for active dogs that spend a lot of time outdoors.

What inspired the creation of The Wolf Pack collar?

The Wolf Pack collar was inspired by a real-life emergency involving the Uncharted Supply Co. mascot, Barron. Barron, a Swiss Mountain dog, was injured during a ski tour, prompting the founder to use makeshift first aid to stabilize him. This experience highlighted the need for a dog-specific first aid solution, leading to the development of The Wolf Pack collar. It combines practical first aid with a durable design to prepare dogs for similar unexpected situations.
